JORDAN WILLIAMS ON BOLTON DEFEAT

2 January 2023

The defender spoke to iFollow Barnsley following our loss to Bolton Wanderers in Sky Bet League One.

Mads Andersen was given a red card in the 11th minute after bringing down Dion Charles in the area with the latter dispatching the resulting penalty shortly after.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson scored just before the break for the visitors, with Kyle Dempsey finishing the scoring with 15 minutes to play to become the first side to defeat the Reds in almost two months.

"It's tough when you get a man sent off early and concede a penalty," began the 23-year-old. "Then obviously the second goal is a mistake. We came out in the second half and we dug deep. We tried our best but today it just didn't happen really."

Despite going down to ten men and a goal down, Williams believes his side showed a positive reaction to the setbacks.

This is a contrast to our 3-0 defeat against Wycombe Wanderers earlier on in the season at Oakwell, where the wing-back thought the attitude wasn't where it should be.

"We've come on leaps and bounds," discussed Jordan. "Earlier on in the season we lose 3-0 to Wycombe and the lads are all throwing their arms up. But today we stuck together and we dug deep. We tried out there but like I said it's a tough one for us today. I think we just need to park it up and go again."
