The centre-half arrives at Oakwell on loan from Sky Bet Championship outfit Burnley FC until the end of the season.
Linking back up with his former U21s boss at Turf Moor, Michael Duff, the Clarets’ 18/19 Young Player of the Year has spent the first half of the 22/23 campaign on loan at fellow Sky Bet League One outfit Bristol Rovers.
Scoring three goals in his 26 appearances with the Gas, the 21-year-old put in some impressive performances for the side who sit 8th in the table and now joins the Reds for the remainder of the campaign.
Michael Duff, Head Coach of Barnsley Football Club, said: “We are pleased to be able to add Bobby into the squad.
“He’s done really well at Burnley amongst the youth setup and has been in around the first team in recent years. He had a good spell recently at Bristol Rovers meaning he’s up and ready to make an impact in this squad.
“As a staff we are happy that Bobby has chosen Oakwell to develop his football and further his promising career.”
Upon joining the Reds, Thomas spoke of his excitement in moving to Oakwell: “I’m delighted to have signed for this club,” he began.
“I can’t wait to get started. The club is in a brilliant position to kick on for the second half of the season and I hope to be a part of it!”
Bobby goes straight into today's squad against Charlton Athletic.
