Republic of Ireland youth international becomes the Reds’ third signing of the January transfer window.
We are pleased to confirm the acquisition of Barry Cotter from League Of Ireland outfit Shamrock Rovers on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The 24-year-old defender - who plays primarily on the right flank - has this season featured in the Europa Conference League with St Patrick’s Athletic – where he had impressed on loan from his parent club since last summer.
Our latest addition to the ranks has immediately joined the group in training, with Barnsley FC CEO, Khaled El-Ahmad commenting: "We are pleased to bring Barry to Oakwell,” he said.
“We look forward to seeing him work with Michael and the staff out on the training pitch and wish him a warm welcome to the Club."
After completing his move to South Yorkshire, Cotter spoke of his desire to get going with the Reds: “It’s so exciting,” he began.
“It’s a great opportunity, I’m absolutely buzzing. I can’t wait to hit the ground running. It’s a huge Club, there’s great history. I’m over the moon.”
