MADS ANDERSEN ON DEFEAT AGAINST ADDICKS

15 January 2023

Speaking exclusively to iFollow Barnsley, our skipper gave his reaction to our 2-0 defeat away to Charlton Athletic in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon.

The Addicks grabbed a goal in either half through Tyreece Campbell and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, not without the Reds having numerous chances throughout the game to get on the scoresheet at The Valley.

Our centre-back thought the side's performance overall was of a good level, making the result a tough one to take for the team.

"If you look at the whole game, I thought we gave a good performance," began the Dane. "Of course, it is frustrating now to stand here and we lost the game. But, there's loads of good things we can take with us."

Apologies, this video is unvailable.

Michael Duff's side racked up 23 shots on goal and had 65% possession in South East London on Saturday afternoon, but couldn't make it pay against a Charlton team on form of late.

Whilst the attention will be on the attacking end of the pitch for the Reds, Andersen was disappointed with the goals conceded by the Reds.

"It's a bit frustrating," he discussed. "We had loads of good chances, opportunities, to score a goal. Because I'm a defender, obviously I'm a little bit sad we conceded two goals. I think there was an offside on the second one, but still, the first one shouldn't happen."
