MADS ANDERSEN WANTS TO PACK THE PONTY

21 February 2023

Ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One clash against Derby County, Reds first team captain, Mads Andersen, has written to all supporters.

Dear Reds,

During our last fixture at Oakwell against Cambridge United, the noise and support coming down from the stands was a huge factor in the end result. Going down to 10-men so early in the game was tough, but you kept giving us that boost to run that extra yard, to make that tackle and ultimately, to take the three points.

As we were up against it, you created one of the best atmospheres that I’ve experienced during my time at Barnsley.

As a team, we have set goals internally. This current run of form is good, but we are not finished yet. As a squad, we have set ambitious goals. We want to keep winning, keep moving up that table and ultimately have smiles on our faces come May. To do that, Oakwell needs to be a fortress for our remaining home fixtures.

On Saturday 25th February, we play Derby County in what will be an exciting challenge and I stress, do not underestimate the difference that you make. We need everyone to be together, behind the players and management. We all want to continue making you happy and proud whilst making this season one that we will all reflect on with pride.

With that, the Club is trying to keep football affordable, with Under 14s tickets in the CK Beckett South Stand £5 and Adults £20. I understand there’s only 700 tickets left in the Ponty End on Saturday.

I can speak on behalf of the squad when I say, I would love to see that stand packed with Reds fans urging us on. We need you. We need Oakwell to be at it’s very best. We’ll give each and every last bit of effort, so get behind us, just like you did last time, and give us the best chance to keep on winning!

Thank you for all that you’ve done so far. See you Saturday.

Best wishes,

Mads
