The gaffer gave his thoughts to iFollow Barnsley after our 3-1 victory over Port Vale in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday evening.
A spectacular strike from Luca Connell got the Reds off to the perfect start inside the opening minute, before being pegged back by the hosts shortly after.
We regained the lead inside the opening half following a delicious delivery by Connell which found Liam Kitching at the back stick who beat the offside trap and nodded home.
Adam Phillips rounded off the scoring with another fabulous effort which beat Aidan Stone in the Vale goal via a nick off one of his own defenders. Our Head Coach began his exclusive interview by praising how his side started the match.
"It's probably a goal of the season contender!", he commended. "When it comes in the first 30 seconds of a game, you can't ask for much more. Then we gave away a poor goal. A second-phase set play, again. That's a couple now we have conceded, not that we haven't been working on it but it is something we need to be aware of.
"Resilience, togetherness, spirit, doggedness. Accepting what the pitch is - so not trying to go 'no, I'm better than the pitch'. We played what the pitch told us to do. The glue that holds the performance together, the horrible bits, allows us two moments of quality to go and win the game."
