BARNSLEY HOSPICE TAKEOVER FOR DERBY GAME

25 February 2023

Barnsley Hospice will takeover our Sky Bet League One fixture with Derby County!

Our meeting with the Rams has been made our 'Barnsley Hospice Takeover Day', to raise awareness for a fantastic local charity.

There will be bucket collections around Oakwell on Saturday, so be sure to give where you can support the impactful work of the hospice.

Moreover, the Reds players will warm-up ahead of kick-off in Barnsley Hospice t-shirts, providing increased awareness of the charity with their distinctive orange colours!

Simon Atkinson, Corporate Fundraiser at Barnsley Hospice, spoke of his excitement ahead of the day: "We all can't wait to get down to Oakwell and be a part of a big day for ourselves and Barnsley Football Club.

"Our partnership with the football club has just gone from strength to strength, and we've loved every minute of working with them. As a Reds fan, the partnership between the two institutions is something I'm deeply passionate about means a lot to me and everyone at the hospice. If you see one of our bucket collectors out and about, please give generously for a fantastic cause.

"We'd like to thank everyone at Barnsley FC, let's hope for a good day and a win for the Super Reds!"

Barnsley CEO, Khaled El-Ahmad, added: "We are pleased to collaborate with Barnsley Hospice once again and help raise awareness for such a fantastic, local institution.

"We were all delighted when the hospice logo was on the front of the shirts earlier this season, thanks to our Together Red campaign, along with Athletic Brewing and Rapid Response Telecoms, and it was good for the players to go and see the impact the work Barnsley Hospice does first-hand.

"Helping and connecting our local community is an important part of Barnsley F.C. and is something we endeavour to continue in the future. Be sure to donate if you can and we thank the hospice for their incredible work."

Barnsley FC coaching staff will wear a special Barnsley Hospice orange ribbon during the match to show their support to Barnsley Hospice.

The takeover day sees further cooperation between the Club and Barnsley Hospice, after the hospice had a spell as shirt sponsors under the Together Red initiative earlier this campaign.

Reds players also paid a visit to the hospice back in December to see first-hand the wonderful work they do in our community and to donate some gifts during the Festive period!

Be sure to give generously if you spot a bucket collector from the hospice at Oakwell on Saturday, and the Club would like to thank Barnsley Hospice for the outstanding care they provide for members of our local community.
