OAKWELL REVIEW | STEVENAGE

22 December 2023

It’s our final home game before Christmas – and of the calendar year – as the Reds entertain Stevenage in Sky Bet League One.

That means there is another issue of OAKWELL REVIEW available for you to enjoy, and this one is a special edition in memory of the late, great Norman Rimmington BEM, who proudly features on the front cover.

Fellow legendary figure, BARRY MURPHY – who also has a stand named after him at the other end of the stadium – pays tribute to his good friend by recalling some fond memories of their time together.

Our main interview for the Boro’s visit is SAM COSGROVE. The powerful centre forward discusses his first few months with Barnsley and his recent Goal of the Month accolade for that strike against Wycombe Wanderers in November.

He also reflects on his career to date, highlighting his time north of the border with Aberdeen where the Dons were challenging near the top of the table and competing on the European stage.

Hear from our interim CEO, JON FLATMAN, as he addresses supporters in OAKWELL REVIEW for the first time.

Get to know more about JOSIAH DYER and his favourite things, while FABIO JALO reveals his ultimate five-a-side team.

As ever, we have pages dedicated to our visitors from Hertfordshire but, as this is a first ever meeting between the two sides, there are no historic clashes to take a look back on. So, we analyse their recent form as well as picking out six players who have featured in either camp over the years.

Football historian, LEIGH EDWARDS, also focuses on 10 former Stevenage players who came from non-league.

There are stats aplenty across League One, within the Reds camp at first team and academy level, plus an update from BARNSLEY FC COMMUNITY TRUST as our charity arm reflect on what has been a memorable 2023.

In addition to all of this, we have an interview with BARNSLEY FC WOMEN’s head coach JESS HORSLEY, who talks about their superb 10-0 victory over Harrogate Town last weekend and how the Reds’ season has panned out so far.

All of this and more in your Stevenage edition of OAKWELL REVIEW, which can be purchased from our designated programme sellers in and around the stadium, or from the Box Office.

Alternatively, you can order yours online.

Please note, we have taken on board recent supporter feedback regarding Oakwell Review selling out ahead of kick-off and have ordered significantly more for this weekend’s fixture!
