NEILL COLLINS AHEAD OF ADDICKS VISIT

14 December 2023

Our Head Coach spoke to the media ahead of our clash with Charlton Athletic at Oakwell on Saturday.

ON INJURIES

"Max hasn't been back training yet but has shown real signs of progression so still possible for the weekend. Cadden as well has still not trained since coming off with a hamstring but is definitely trending in the right direction so we've probably got a couple of late decisions regarding those guys."

ON WINNING FROM BEHIND AT READING

"If you're going to be a top team that wants to achieve anything I think you just have to be able to come from behind. You watch all the top teams, no matter how good they are, from time to time they find themselves behind. You should then be able to rectify that. I think I mentioned it but the team have shown some really good resilience recently, came from behind twice against Fleetwood, should have really gone on and got the winner. Lincoln, we should have held on to win that game. The challenge for us is to stop going behind as often as we have been so that we can score the first goal and take the game on from there. It's definitely a big boost for the players to know that we can do that and do it so convicingly was really positive."

ON FABIO JALO

"I already think he is a big part of the first team in terms of that we value him a lot. He's come off the bench recently. He scored four goals as you mentioned for the under 18s. He's full of confidence right now and he's enjoying his football. Like all the players, Fab just needs to keep enjoying it, getting his head down and he'll get opportunities for sure if he continues to do what he did on Saturday they'll be even more opportunities. He came on at a real important time in the game and helped us go on and win that game. Moment of quality for the third goal so really pleased for him and looking forward to seeing how he continues to develop."

ON CHARLTON

"Really tough test. When you look through their squad, top attacking players. Slightly slow start to the season but I think the position in the league probably doesn't do them justice. We'll need to be really at it on Saturday so it should be a really good game."
