NEILL COLLINS REFLECTS ON CHARLTON DRAW

17 December 2023

Collins spoke to iFollow Barnsley to provide his thoughts on the Reds' 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic at Oakwell.

The Reds took the lead in the first half through Adam Phillips' first strike of the season but conceded in the 70th minute to a Corey Blackett-Taylor strike. Despite creating a flurry of chances after being pegged back, the Reds couldn't quite find a winner at Oakwell on Saturday afternoon.

Collins was pleased overall with his side's performance against an outfit, that he felt, possessed a lot of quality, especially in the final third.

"I thought overall, it was very, very positive," began our Head Coach. "We could easily have been standing here with three points and a few more goals.

"The boys dug in for 5-10 minutes and then from that point onwards we created some good moments. We got ahead in the game. I thought in the second half we came out and created some great moments but just didn't get that second goal. Unfortunately, one of the times we looked like conceding, we did.

"1-1 I think is disappointing, because I felt the performance deserved more. It was a very good side we were playing with some really good attacking players. I thought as a group we handled it really well."
