OAKWELL REVIEW | PORT VALE

4 August 2023

The football season is back this weekend as we entertain Port Vale in our first fixture of the Sky Bet League One campaign!

That means OAKWELL REVIEW is also making a return and, as ever, your matchday programme is packed full of exclusive content for you to enjoy reading before, during or after the game when you get home.

It’s a fresh look for the new season, too, with a perfect bound spine giving it that extra bit of class in your collection, while the A5 size makes it easier to store in your pocket.

Our cover star for the visit of the Valiants is NEILL COLLINS, who is relishing his first game in the Oakwell dugout since arriving from Florida a month ago.

The Reds’ new Head Coach discusses how preparations for the upcoming campaign have progressed over the past few weeks, and he also spoke of the incredible reception that he and his assistant, Jon Stead have received from the fanbase.

Plenty of youngsters have been utilised during pre-season, and Collins highlights the importance of providing a clear pathway for our academy players, stressing his desire to develop homegrown talent where possible.

Sticking to a similar theme, and we have an in-depth interview with BOBBY HASSELL.

Our Academy Manager reflects on what was a productive 12 months – particularly at U18s level as the young Reds won the Professional Development League last season – and looks ahead to the new term with renewed optimism.

You can also see a full list of our U21s and U18s fixtures inside!

Don’t just update your calendar with the academy schedule, though – note down the fixtures for BARNSLEY FC WOMEN, too!

Find out about the latest interviews and how to access them on iFollow Barnsley as we continue our extended coverage of Jess Horsley’s team.

We have an update from the recently rebranded BARNSLEY FC COMMUNITY TRUST, as well as new features with JOE ACKROYD and ROGAN RAVENHILL.

There are nine pages dedicated to our visitors from Burslem – pick up your copy of OAKWELL REVIEW to brush up on your knowledge of the Valiants, our head to head record, an insight from the opposition camp in the form of BBC Radio Stoke’s PHIL BOWERS, while LEIGH EDWARDS returns with Non-League Nuggets.

All of this and more in your Port Vale edition of OAKWELL REVIEW, which can be bought from in and around the stadium at our programme vendors. Please note, this is not on sale in the Reds Superstore.

Alternatively, you can order your copy online to be delivered to your doorstep.
