MICHAEL DUFF ON IPSWICH DEFEAT

26 April 2023

The Reds boss gave his thoughts to iFollow Barnsley after our defeat against Ipswich Town on Tuesday evening.

Two quickfire goals before the break for the Tractor Boys were added to by a lobbed finish by Conor Chaplin in the second half to confirm victory for Kieron McKenna's side.

Harry Isted denied Nathan Broadhead from the spot before the vistors' third, but it wasn't enough to spark a reaction from the Reds to get back in the game.

Our Head Coach admitted that his side were defeated by the better side at Oakwell, but thought the final scoreline painted a different picture.

"We got beaten by a good team," he appraised. "I didn't think there was a lot in the game. People look at the scoreline and think it's a total domination. It wasn't a total domination at all.

"I actually thought in the first half we were the better team. But, we've given two goals away right on half-time and that makes it a tough job from then on. We shoot ourselves in the foot with one straight ball down the middle, but that's unlike us. I'm loathed to criticise the lads too much. There was some good football."
