MICHAEL DUFF PREVIEWS PORT VALE ENCOUNTER

12 September 2022

Our Head Coach spoke to the press ahead of our Sky Bet League One clash with Port Vale on Tuesday night.

ON PASSING OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II

"It's the topic of conversation. I think it's good, particularly for the younger ones. It's not a topic that gets talked about in the changing rooms often, the Royal Family.

"You talk about service and loyalty, all those things she did and she stood for. I think it's good that it opens up new conversations in the dressing room rather than all the nonsense that normally goes on."

ON WEEKEND PREPARATIONS

"We had an in-house game on Saturday because some players still need minutes.

"Certain people didn't play because they didn't need minutes. We've played a lot of football, had a few niggles, but other people needed the minutes - the new lads like Tom [Edwards], Adam [Phillips], Herbie Kane, all getting more minutes.

"It was good, it was all done properly."

ON INJURIES

"[On Nicky Cadden] Just conditioning now. Just trying to get him to a point that he doesn't break down again."

ON PORT VALE

"They've had a good start. They're on eight points already, probably should be on ten, they deserved to beat Cheltenham in my opinion.

"They went on a great run to get into the play-offs, obviously carried that momentum to win the play-offs and they've carried that on again this season."
