MICHAEL DUFF PREVIEWS POMPEY CLASH

8 September 2022

Our Head Coach spoke to the press ahead of our Sky Bet League One fixture with Portsmouth on Saturday, kicking off at 3pm.

ON SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY RESULT

"Sheffield Wednesday are a good footballing team.

"If you let them get into a rhythm, with the crowd that back them, that's when it becomes difficult.

"A lot of that is focusing on us. That's not just because it is Sheffield Wednesday. "

ON INJURIES

"[On Nicky Cadden] Not as well as we would like. He can't seem to shake off this little niggle.

"He's not breaking down as such but he keeps feeling a niggle in there. It looks like it's going to be another couple of weeks.

"[On Herbie Kane] He played half an hour in the week, played half an hour on Saturday. Is it more beneficial for us to get 60-70 minutes from him, or is he best getting more minutes off the bench?

"He's now up and running and he's fit.

"Josh Benson will probably be another week. We don't want it to turn into a 'long-termer'."

ON PORTSMOUTH

"Good team. They have a definite way of playing. Big one and a little one up front. Two wingers who can play in off the line.

"They're five unbeaten. They score from a lot of crosses. They're good at set plays. They've not conceded many goals.

"Every team we play at the minute seems to be top of the league, or in the top two! It'll be a challenge, but, we've competed against some of the bigger boys already. We need to do that again."

ON BACK TO BACK HOME GAMES

"Get six points ideally!

"To show signs of improvement. We need to take points. There's no getting away from the fact that we're in a results business.

"We've had two or three good away performances. Brilliant support, but obviously there's not everyone here. These are the games, you need to be doing it at home."
