MICHAEL DUFF PREVIEWS CAMBRIDGE TRIP

15 September 2022

Ahead of our visit to Cambridgeshire on Saturday, Michael Duff addressed the press here at Oakwell on Thursday morning.

ON INJURIES

"No new injuries. Nothing has been reported. Hopefully a clean bill of health from Tuesday night.

"[On Josh Benson] He might have a chance for the weekend. In terms of involvement, I don't think he's ready for a start.

"The same with Cadden. Nicky's done a couple of weeks of conditioning now so we can maybe start introducing him. Again, not ready for a start."

ON CAMBRIDGE UNITED

"Good team. Better then what the perception of what Cambridge would be. They came up with my team at Cheltenham two years ago, they consolidated like we did last year.

"The team hasn't changed. The game they played on Tuesday night, I don't think there was one new signing in there. It tells you there's a real togetherness, they've been on the up for two years. There's a solidity and there's a knowhow within that as well.

"They have a definite way of playing, they don't come away from it, why would you, they've been successful for two years. Success to them last year is different to what some people would deem success. To get promoted and consolidate as comfortably as what they did.

"They've kicked on again. They're sixth in the league. They've won four out of four at home. It's going to be a tough ask."

ON MARK BONNER

"He's done a briliant job, Mark. It's a weird one, he seems to go under the radar. He doesn't get linked with any jobs, and you look at the job he's done. Cambridge two and a half years ago were struggling at the bottom of League Two and now they're sixth in League One. He's hardly spent a penny along with it as well.

"He deserves more credit than what he's given for because at Cambridge, sometimes, the perception and reality are distorted, and the job he's done; I don't think he gets enough credit."

ON REDS AWAY FORM

"We''ve had some good away performances. I thought we had a good performance on Tuesday night as a general rule. People will always get obssessed with the result but from minute one to minute ninety, 75% of it was good and it would normally win you a game.

"We've just go into it making sure that the mentality is right, the physicality is right and try and get the tactics spot on. Hopefully we have more players that play well on the day than they do and we win the game."
