ROBBIE CUNDY LOOKS AHEAD TO CAMBRIDGE CLASH

15 September 2022

The centre-half previewed the game for the assembled press on Thursday morning ahead of our trip to The Abbey on Saturday in Sky Bet League One action.

ON PORT VALE RESULT

"I thought it was a tough one to take, probably felt more like a loss. I think we kind of dominated the game up to sixty, seventy minutes. We had a lot of chances, we probably didn't capitalise on them.

"At least we're creating chances and I'm sure the goals will keep coming."

ON FACING DIFFERENT PLAYING STYLES

"Getting in the faces makes the opposition make mistakes. For me, that's the way to go about it. Pressing, from the front, the strikers do that really well.

"Us boys at the back squeezing up obviously helps them to get more forward as well. We've been doing it really well, we've just got to keep going.

"I've been in non-league where that's [dealing with long balls] every Saturday, every game. We've dealt with that well as a team, we haven't conceded too many from set-pieces. At the back we're coming together nicely now, the gaffer is drilling it into us and that's showing in our games."

ON CAMBRIDGE UNITED

"There's a big chunk of them that are still there from when I was there. They're a good team, we're not going to take them for no mugs. We're going to give it our all and hopefully, we'll come away with the win.

"They're a good team. They've obviously showed that already with their home form so it's going to be a tough game. We just can't underestimate anyone, just go there and give it our all."

ON HIS TIME AT CAMBRIDGE

"It was my first time in League Two, I believe. It was a good loan spell for me, I played quite a few games. There was good competition there which is always healthy. I enjoyed playing under Mark Bonner, they got promoted that season. Unfortunately, I wasn't there at the end of it, I went to Gillingham.

"They're a good team, I enjoyed it there and I look forward to playing there on Saturday."
