JORDAN WILLIAMS REACTS TO WIN OVER FOREST GREEN

30 October 2022

The defender spoke to iFollow Barnsley after our 2-0 victory over Forest Green in our first ever meeting with the side.

Returning from injury, the 23-year-old assisted Devante Cole for the opener whilst keeping a clean sheet in the game. A good return then, for the Yorkshire-born player.

"It's a big win for all of us," he began. "It's good to get back in the team and get a positive result.

"It's been a tough month for us all. Me personally, being on the sidelines and not being able to affect it. We haven't conceded a lot of shots and we've conceded four goals.

"I think today we've been a bit more ruthless, but I still think we can be a bit more ruthless. We've created a lot of chances and scored two goals. I think we could have scored a lot more and put the game to bed a lot earlier."

Williams was the provider for the Reds' opener, hooking a ball into the box on the chase into Cole's path.

The striker stooped and headed into the bottom corner to claim his fifth league goal of the season.

"I just wanted to get there really," discussed Williams. "Put it in an area and hopefully, someone is there and Devante's come on the end of it and scored."

After the rour recent run of form, Williams believes that this result will be a source of good energy for everyone at Oakwell.

"This was a tough game for us," he discussed. "We haven't won in the last four at home. Playing in front of the home fans and obviously we needed to score.

"That will settle a few nerves and we've dealt with the pressure well."

Next up sees Michael Duff's men travel to Bolton Wanderers in the Emirates FA Cup first round.

Williams emphasised the necessity for the Reds to approach the next month with the correct attitude, starting in Greater Manchester on Saturday.

"There's not a lot of games but obviously it's a big month," he insisted. "We've got the FA Cup which is a big competition for the team and the club.

"We'll go to Bolton next week, put a performance on there and get into the hat for the next round."
