Striker James Norwood and midfielder Josh Benson joined the Reds in the Community team at Barnsley Hospital to promote programmes for Men’s Mental Health.
The community team were joined by Reds players at Barnsley Hospital on Thursday to help promote RITC’s Team Talk Men’s mental health group that is held in the Oakwell indoor training centre.
The event was originally scheduled for September but was rearranged due to the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. Based in the hospital restaurant, they met with both staff and patients to discuss the importance of looking after our mental health.
There was also a visit to the hospital’s extremely busy A&E department to speak with staff about their mental health and the free sessions such as Team Talk and Healthy Minds which could help or at least give them an opportunity to have a chat with our staff members.
Hospital Counsellor Dawn Denham, who initially reached out to Reds in the Community, told us: “I am really passionate about men’s mental health and I can’t thank you enough for taking the time out to visit with us.
"I hope that we can continue to build on our relationship to collectively promote this important message.”
