Barnsley FC and Reds in the Community will be hosting a collection to support those fleeing and fighting in Ukraine.

Our town is twinned with Horlivka, in the Donetsk Oblast of Eastern Ukraine. All at Barnsley FC send strength and solidarity to those affected by this war.

We are inviting business, community groups and supporters to rally around and help us send vital supplies to Ukraine.

Following guidance from local charities, the following items are required:

  • Blankets
  • Sleeping Mats
  • Baby Food
  • Nappies
  • Small Toys
  • Toiletries
  • Batteries
  • Plasters
  • Power Banks
  • Torches
  • First Aid Kits
  • Paracetamol

Commenting on the project, Barnsley FC Chief Executive Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad, said: “Unfortunately I know all too well the impact that war has on communities. The terrible news emanating from the Ukraine on a daily basis brings back terrible personal memories. Whilst I am not directly impacted on this occasion, it still feels very personal. All wars, no matter who is involved, are horrible and avoidable.

“As a Club, we are aware that there is very little that we can do to reduce the suffering that innocent people are facing. However, at times like this, displays of unity and support are more significant than any of us can possibly comprehend. Barnsley FC and Reds in the Community will make donations to this collection and if you are in a position to support, however big or small, please do.”
