The Reds will face Doncaster Rovers and Lincoln City in Northern Group E of the Papa John's Trophy Group Stage, with an invited Premier League U21 side to be added on Thursday 23 June.
The competition, which the Club won in 2016, kicks off on the week commencing August 29. The final group stage match is scheduled to be played on the week commencing October 17.
The invited teams that can be added to Group E are:

4. Liverpool U21
5. Manchester City U21
6. Manchester United U21
7. Newcastle United U21
8. Wolverhampton Wanderers U21
The full draw will take place live on Sky Sports News this Thursday at 11:30am, after our League One schedule is announced at 9:00am.
The Carabao Cup Round 1 draw will also take place on Thursday 23 June, with the Reds being ball number 2 in the Northern Section draw.
Carabao Cup Round 1 fixtures will take place week commencing 8 August.
