MADS ANDERSEN HAPPY TO BE BACK AT OAKWELL

22 June 2022

The Danish central defender was his usual, happy and positive self upon returning to the club for pre-season training.

Having joined the main group on the training ground here at Oakwell, his first sessions with a new head coach overseeing the preparation, Mads Andersen declared his excitement at getting back down to business ahead of another campaign.

"I'm excited to get back," he told us, smiling.

"It's great to wake up to the sun shining, to be going into training again, it's good to see all the boys and getting back to the football."

Early days of course, but the 24-year-old says he's had only positive vibes during his first days back, particularly from Michael Duff, his sixth gaffer in just three years.

"It's only been a couple of days, but he seems a good coach, very positive and so my first impressions of working with him are good.

"I'm looking forward to more training and setting some targets for the season."

As you'd expect from a man with such an optimistic view of life, Andersen says there's only one real aim for himself and the Reds this season.

"Promotion." Mads asserted.

"I cannot think of anything else.

"For me personally, it's about clean sheets, scoring more goals and getting wins. We want to win every game, and we have to aim high if we're to reach our target."
