JORDAN WILLIAMS POST-PLYMOUTH

31 July 2022

Speaking after our opening day defeat at Plymouth, Jordan Williams was obviously disappointed with the outcome of the match.

The defender missed the back-end of the last campaign with a knee injury, but is now back in first-team contention and made his first league appearance since sustaining his injury in March.

“It’s good to be back out there,” said Williams. “It's been a long time since I’ve played 90 minutes. I’ve only played two 45’s in pre-season, so it’s good to get the minutes in the tank.

“But on a team level, it’s disappointing to come to Plymouth and get away with nothing. Thanks to the fans for coming all the way, but we’ll try and put it right and hopefully we can get the three points on Saturday at home.

Cheltenham Town are the opponents next up for the Reds on Saturday, in our first home league game of the 22/23 campaign.

The 22-year old stressed the importance of the Reds doing the basics right in that one in the hope of a positive result.

We need to work hard,” he asserted. “It’s not going to be easy, we can’t just turn up every week. We’ve got to be on it, and today we weren’t.

“But, we’re going to work hard in the week and hopefully we can put it right.”
