HERBIE KANE REACTS TO WALSALL WIN

2 July 2022

Speaking after our pre-season friendly against the Saddlers, Kane was pleased to get back into the swing of things after returning from injury.

Featuring for the first time this pre-season, the midfielder got some minutes into his legs and felt that it was a good platform to build from.

"Yeah it was good, I enjoyed it", he opened. "I've been working hard to get back, I've been out on the pitch for about a week now so it's good to get a competitive game and build relationships with the lads."

DUFF POST WALSALL

The Bristol-born midfielder sustained an injury towards the back of last season when on loan at Oxford United, but his return has been a strong and healthy one so far.

"It's gone good", continued Herbie. "I've not really had any setbacks, I'm feeling strong, I'm feeling fit and like I said, I'm glad to be back out on the pitch and getting my fitness up ready for the season."

Herbie's return to Oakwell was almost synonymous with the appointment of our Head Coach, Michael Duff. Kane has enjoyed working under our new 'gaffer' so far, and Herbie believes Duff's fundamentals align with a lot of what he is all about as a player.

"I've been working hard and I think that's a big part of my game", Herbie explained.

"Running and pressing, and they say, doing the 'ugly stuff', so I'm enjoying it and hopefully I'll be becoming a player for it, so I'm looking forward to the season."
