A lifelong Reds fan from Carlton is set to saddle up on two separate occasions over the next couple of months, to raise funds for a terrific cause.
47-year-old Andy Hardy, a season ticket holder in the 'Ponty End' is a keen cyclist, and this is certainly not his first trip of this kind.
He'll take on the mammoth tasks in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, a cause that is close to his heart.
"I'm riding to Ypres & the Menin Gate for the 1st time in July," he explained, when visiting us here at Oakwell recently.
"Then, I'll later be riding to Paris for the fourth time in September to fundraise on behalf of those who have given, or are prepared to give, their lives for our freedoms. Looking after our service personnel, past and present, and their dependants, is something I'm passionate about."
We are proud to have had Andy with us ahead of his worthwhile but hugely challenging journeys, and we hope fellow supporters will help him on his way by making a donation to his Just Giving page linked below.
