Brad Collins spoke to the press ahead of our Sky Bet Championship clash with Birmingham City this weekend.
ON POSTPONED GAMES
“It’s been very frustrating. We’re professional footballers and want to play football games. It’s been frustrating, but it’s where the football world is at, at the moment – things are happening on and off the pitch – and we’re just looking forward to tomorrow.”
ON SURVIVAL CHANCES
“There’s so many games left and it’s not a big gap. Now we have loads of games until the end of the international break – we play every four days – so we have so much time to turn it around and plenty of games.
“We’re going to have to go on a run, but I feel like we have the belief in the team to do it. We have great talent and players now who want to step up, and we look forward to doing it.
“We need to be defensively solid, get up the pitch as much as we can – get shots off, get crosses in the box – and just be on the front foot.”
ON TRANSFER WINDOW
“If you look at the squad we have, we all believe in each other very much. It’s not up to us to see who comes in or who doesn’t come in – we’re not really focused on that; we need to focus on ourselves, what players we’ve got in now and what we can do.
“Obviously, one day I’d like to play in the Premier League, but what footballer doesn’t? For now, my main focus is definitely on Barnsley and winning football games and keeping the team in the division.
“It’s part of football. If you look at everything over the years, there’s speculation of football every day – there’s paper talks and most of the time it’s a load of rubbish. We don’t really look into that and just focus on the job here.”
ON BIRMINGHAM CITY
“It’ll be a very tough game; they’re very direct with good, physical, strong players. It’ll be a tough game, but what game in the Championship isn’t?”
