Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Ben Williams has joined Cheltenham Town in a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old left-back departs Oakwell for an undisclosed fee after four and a half years with the Reds.
Having progressed through our U23s set-up following his arrival from Blackburn Rovers, Williams went onto play a significant role in our Sky Bet League One promotion campaign, before helping us retain our Championship status in the prolonged 19/20 season.
In total, he made 41 appearances in all competitions and will now link up with Michael Duff at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, with the Robins currently 15th in League One.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Barnsley and want to thank everyone who supported me and believed in me over the last four and a half years,” reflected Williams.
“There are plenty of happy memories that I can look back on, particularly winning promotion and our great escape against all the odds.
“I’m looking forward to starting an exciting new chapter in my career and would like to wish the club the very best moving forward.”
Everyone at Barnsley FC would like to thank Ben for his professionalism and efforts during his time at Oakwell and wish him the very best of luck for the future.
