Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Joe Ackroyd has joined MFK Vyškov on loan.
The young midfielder, who made his senior debut in our Emirates FA Cup third round victory over Barrow AFC in January, will be with the Czech outfit until 30 June.
Ackroyd has impressed for our U23s in the Professional Development League this term, featuring 10 times and notching one goal.
“I’ve not really been nervous, to be honest, I’ve just been focussed on getting down to business,” said the 19-year-old. “Obviously, it’s different being away from home and my family, but it’s just mind over matter.
“With a positive attitude, I’m going to make the most out of this experience and opportunity I’ve been given.
“I’m hoping to gain more men’s experience and build on the time I spent with Barnsley’s first team. Hopefully, this will stand me in good stead for next season.
“I feel as though I was already independent at home, but this is the first time I’m fully fending for myself, so I know I will gain good life skills. As well as my own personal experience, I want to help MFK Vyškov achieve their ambitions this season.”
Academy Manager, Bobby Hassell added: “Joe has performed well for our U23s this season and deservedly made his first team debut. We wanted to test his ability and character in a competitive environment to see if he is up to the challenge, and he has impressed so far while on their pre-season.
“We will continue to monitor his progress in the Czech Republic and assess his development when he returns to Oakwell in a few months.”
Everyone at Barnsley FC would like to wish Joe the very best of luck in his loan move.
