BRAD COLLINS PREVIEWS HULL TRIP

21 February 2022

Brad Collins addressed the press ahead of our clash with Hull City on Tuesday evening.

ON COVENTRY DEFEAT
“It’s tough to take in terms of it was late on in the 93rd minute. But that said, we didn’t really threaten them much in the sense of we defended a hell of a lot in the game, so it’s a tough one to take because we lost a point.

“But we need three points, and we need to start attacking and putting teams under more pressure.”

ON LEARNING FROM MISTAKES
“You see top, top players making mistakes, so it’s just part and parcel of being a professional footballer. As long as you learn from it and see where you went wrong, there’s no reason why it should happen again.”

ON BEING COMPETITIVE
“We know that we can beat teams. We’ve competed very well recently and we’re unlucky not to come away with more points than we have. But we don’t need to remind ourselves – we’re definitely good enough to win games this season.”

ON SQUAD CHARACTER
“We have some big characters in the changing room – even staff members, there’s some big characters there. For sure, we definitely have more than enough to survive.

“I’ve been here for three years now, and I’m looked at as one of the more senior players, but we’re all in this together and we have to stick by each other.

“We have a hell of a lot of young players, but everyone steps up in their own personal ways.”

ON SURVIVAL CHANCES
“Obviously, it’s difficult – the league table doesn’t lie, and you can see where we’re at – but there’s definitely more belief in the changing room that we can stay up.”

ON GAME TIME
“I love playing football and love playing games. I just want to maintain this, keep doing that and help keep this team in the league.”

ON HULL CITY
“I don’t think you look at any game as a ‘must win’, but you want to win every game. So, you go into every game exactly the same. Maybe, when you’re down there, there’s a little bit more added pressure, but you have to go into the game wanting to win, of course.

“There’s loads of games left and we’ve still got to play all the teams down there, which is a big bonus for us. If we can win those games, we’ll be right in there.”
