CLUB STATEMENT: ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

1 February 2022

Barnsley FC publicly condemns the anti-social acts of violence that club employees faced at Oakwell both, during and after Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against AFC Bournemouth.

The club are in the process of reviewing all recorded footage. Details of those identified to have engaged in offensive activity or of causing criminal damage will be passed on to South Yorkshire Police. Further sanctions will also be imposed from the football club, per the published terms of entry.

The majority of Barnsley fans have and always will condemn criminal behaviour, along with violence and threatening acts towards club staff.

We respect the right to protest, but urge that it is conducted in a manner that doesn’t jeopardise safety and security of players, staff or fans.

As a club, we remain committed to engagement with all parties through appropriate channels.
