CALLUM BRITTAIN POST-MIDDLESBROUGH

27 February 2022

Having helped us see out our 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon, Callum Brittain spoke of the upbeat mood within the camp following the recent run of results.

The Reds won consecutive games for the first time this season to reignite our survival hopes and bring a feel-good factor back to Oakwell as we enter the final furlong.

“It’s an unreal atmosphere in the changing room,” smiled Brittain. “To finally back up a win with another win, it’s unreal. It was nice to hear the fans at the end and throughout the match, so it was a really good performance.”

Mads Andersen’s header was added to by Amine Bassi’s double, as the Moroccan stole the show in South Yorkshire with an impervious performance that left the home faithful in rapturous applause when he was replaced by Brittain in the second half.

The midfielder and his fellow loanees, Domingos Quina and Rémy Vita, have impressed in the past few weeks, and Brittain paid tribute to his teammates for a magnificent showing against Boro.

“Massive credit to those guys, to Dom, Bassi and Rémy,” praised our full-back. “I think they were excellent – Bassi obviously got the two goals and an assist, but I think Dom has been a great player since he came in, and Rémy as well.

“I thought the boys were excellent out there – especially first half; I thought the first half was a proper performance.”

Momentum is now with the Reds as we head into next weekend’s crunch clash with Derby County at Pride Park, safe in the knowledge that a positive result would do wonders for our survival hopes.

Brittain is demanding for more of the same against the Rams in order to keep spirits high and help us continue this upward trajectory.

“Everyone knows Derby is a massive game,” he insisted. “To play this game at home and win gives us massive confidence to go there and try and get a good result.

“We all know what we’ve got to do to stay up; we’ve got to go there and get a result.”
