AIDEN MARSH PROVIDES INJURY UPDATE

2 December 2022

The 19-year-old spoke exclusively to iFollow Barnsley about his recent injury and loan spell at Scunthorpe United this season.

Marsh joined the Iron back in September of this year, making three appearances in the Vanarama National League, before picking up a foot fracture against Dorking Wanderers at the start of October.

Enjoying his short spell with Scunthorpe, the striker regrets picking up the injury but praised the experience of going outside of his comfort zone and plying his trade elsewhere temporarily.

"It's always a little bit different, you go somewhere new, you have to meet new people," he discussed. "It's the first time I've ever been out of Barnsley to be fair! It's more tough for them really because they don't understand what I'm saying half of the time!

"But no, it was a really good experience, I wish I could have not got injured and got a lot more experience and game time."

'Marshy' came back to Barnsley after sustaining his injury, working closely with the medical staff at Oakwell to get back fit and ready as quickly as possible.

He was positive about his recovery so far, and provided an insight as to what the plan is in the coming weeks before the Barnsley-born youngster returns to competitive action.

"Yeah, it's going good," he said. "I've got another couple of weeks until I'm back in training. I've been out on the grass for maybe 3 or 4 weeks, just building up strength - taking it slow.

"Obviously, with a fracture, you can only go so fast so soon. You've just got to let it heal for so long, then once it's fully healed you can get cracking really. That's what I'm hoping to do in the next couple of weeks before I'm back training."
