MICHAEL DUFF PREVIEWS FLEETWOOD ENCOUNTER

28 December 2022

Our Head Coach spoke to the press ahead of what is our final game in 2022 as we welcome Fleetwood Town to Oakwell on Thursday 29 December in Sky Bet League One.

ON INJURIES

"Tom (Edwards) won't be ready for tomorrow night. He's not back on the grass yet so, he's progressing a bit slower than what we had hoped. It's nothing serious, but the phyisos haven't been able to get him going because he's still got a little bit of pain in there.

"Josh Benson is getting closer. Fleetwood will probably be too soon for him, but he'll probably in around the Bolton game.

"Everyone came through the game unscathed so, with the injuries that we have had, it's pleasing."

ON FLEETWOOD TOWN

"The first game probably shows you everything. They're a hard team to beat, I think they've lost three away games all season. For their liking they've probably drawn too many games, but they've proved they're resolute, hard to beat. The game against Sheffield Wednesday on Monday, they'll feel they should have got something out of the game. The goalkeeper has kept them in it a couple of times and they've scored two goals from outside the box.

"They've been together another three or four months since we played them. They'll have improved, we've improved. I'm expecting a hard-fought, tight game."

ON FIRST REVERSE FIXTURE OF THE SEASON

"It was earlier in the season. Both managers were new in. They've changed shape two or three times since then, we've obviously changed shape since then as well.

"It'll be a good marker of where both teams are at. Obviously, we've been on a decent run. They've not put loads of 'backs to backs' together but they've proven really hard to beat. I imagine if they turn a lot of those draws into wins, things look a lot healthier for them."

ON BEING BACK AT HOME FOR TWO GAMES

"I thought the performance on Monday was good. I think we win that game nine times out of ten. Once you take the emotion away from it, without being brilliant we did more than enough to beat a tough team.

"We're at home, the onus will be on us to take the game to them. We've done it well in recent weeks and just try and keep the momentum going. Hopefully, the lads are full of confidence. Performances have helped the confidence, results have helped the confidence."
