ROBBIE CUNDY REFLECTS ON DRAW WITH ACCRINGTON

27 December 2022

The Reds centre half spoke to iFollow Barnsley after our Boxing Day 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley in Sky Bet League One.

"I think we started well, obviously got a goal," began Cundy. I thought we took our foot off the gas a little bit then. Second half, they come out fighting.

"I think they only had one shot on target which was frustrating. But, we've got to take the positives from that game. I thought we created a lot of chances - we didn't take as many as we'd have liked. But, we'll take that into our coming games."

The Reds had 20 shots in the game against Accrington and 16 corners, but failed to double their lead and retrospectively, gain all three points in Lancashire.

This was a big source of frustration for Cundy, who felt that the goals will come in future matches, with Monday's game being an off-day for the Reds in front of goal.

"We've been doing that well recently," said the 25-year-old. "Like I said, it's just about taking the chances now. We've done that in the last few games actually, but today was a little blip. We're creating them, which is the main thing."

Despite the frustration of giving up a lead against Accrington, our centre-half stressed the importance of remaining positive and focusing on picking up points in a busy period for the Reds.

"Six unbeaten, it's a good record so far - obviously, we would have liked to get the win tonight," he discussed. "The gaffer was just saying that at the end. Just take the positives from the game.

"We've got two home games there now. Hopefully, we can continue that run. It's always a busy period, Christmas."
