During the 50th minute of our Sky Bet League One clash with Bristol Rovers at Oakwell on Tuesday 16 August 2022, a number of spectators located in home sections of the stadium took part in a discriminatory chant using abusive and insulting words that included reference, whether expressed or implied, to gender.
As a result of this behaviour, the Club has been fined £30,000.
Barnsley Football Club will not tolerate any behaviour of this kind. Those responsible may be committing a criminal offence, will be ejected and banned permanently.
Repetition of such an incident may result in the Club being required to play match/es behind ‘closed doors.’
The Club will be in touch with fan groups to make sure the seriousness of this message is fully understood.
