JORDAN WILLIAMS PREVIEWS BRISTOL ROVERS CLASH

15 August 2022

Jordan Willliams spoke to the press ahead of our Sky Bet League One meeting with Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.

ON DERBY COUNTY GAME

"It was just some poor mistakes; from a simple corner and a bit of overplaying at the back.

"We just need to be a bit more ruthless in the final third and also defensively. We worked very hard on Saturday, we fought to the end but it just didn't happen.

"I think on another day we could have come away with at least a point. The confidence is still high from the game even though we lost."

ON HOW THE TEAM IS GELLING TOGETHER

"The difference from Plymouth to Derby is massive.

"At Plymouth, we probably should have lost the game, whereas Saturday I was thinking 'how have we lost'. It's a different 'type' of loss.

"There's a lot of changes in staff, and I think it's getting used to all the changes, and I think it's starting to come out now."

ON JOSH BENSON AND LUKE THOMAS

"They've always had the talent, it's just been a bit of confidence. The gaffer is letting them express themselves and they've done well so far. Hopefully, they can stay playing well."

ON HIS TIME AT THE CLUB

"I've seen everything already and I've only been here for five years.

"I've done a lot of things already, I'm only 22, I think it's great to see already that it will help me in the future."

ON BRISTOL ROVERS

"Yeah, I think it's going to be a tough game; I think every game is going to be tough.

"We've got to be at it from the minute go. The other day, we were 2-0 down at half-time, it's not an ideal scenario to be in. Hopefully, we can do well on Tuesday night and set off the game well."

ON HOME FORM THIS SEASON

"We're trying to make it [Oakwell] a fortress and make it hard for teams to come here.

"So hopefully we can pick a result up this Tuesday. The fans helped last weekend against Cheltenham, they were the 12th man, they kept us going to the end."
