OAKWELL REVIEW | BRISTOL ROVERS

15 August 2022

The Reds are back in action on Tuesday evening, and there’s another edition of OAKWELL REVIEW available as we entertain Bristol Rovers.

Naturally, LUKE THOMAS is the cover star and main interview for this particular encounter, having spent last season on loan at the Memorial Stadium.

He opens up about a difficult period for himself, personally, and the benefits of returning back home to the southwest to be nearer family and friends for the sake of his own career and mental health.

Our midfielder also discusses Rovers’ incredible promotion on the final day, and how he aims to go one better this term with Barnsley after making a fine individual start to the campaign.

We spoke with JACK BUTTERFILL to get his thoughts on his first couple of months in South Yorkshire following his arrival from Leicester City in the summer.

The 18-year-old striker got off the mark with a magnificent backheel finish against Bristol City U23s on the opening day of the Professional Development League campaign last week, and he talks about getting used to his new surroundings here at Oakwell.

Sticking with an academy theme, keep up to date with the latest fixtures, results and tables of our U18s and U23s in four dedicated pages.

LEON WOBSCHALL of the Yorkshire Evening Post pens a column reflecting on our last meeting with the Gas back in May 2019, where Reds players, staff and supporters celebrated promotion from League One.

There is also an update from REDS IN THE COMMUNITY and information on how to sign up to their latest initiatives.

Find out more about our visitors from the West Country with 11 pages worth of in-depth analysis and statistics, plus football historian LEIGH EDWARDS’ piece on 10 classic campaigns.

In addition, you can indulge on all the latest stats from League One and the Reds so far this season.

All of this and more in your Bristol Rovers edition of OAKWELL REVIEW, which is available from in and around the stadium for £3.50.

Alternatively, you can order a copy to be delivered to your door.
