Speaking after our Carabao Cup Round One victory at Middlesbrough on Wednesday night, Fabio Jalo emphasised his gratitude after being handed his Reds debut.
Becoming the sixth youngest player to debut for Barnsley FC, Jalo entered the fray with 20 minutes to play and with the scores level.
He was on the field to help see that scoreline move in the Reds' favour, getting to celebrate a dramatic cup success on a warm Teesside evening.
'Fab' has impressed in our youth setup for a couple of years now and was handed his debut by Michael Duff at the Riverside, something he is very thankful for when asked how he felt entering the pitch on Wednesday evening.
"Grateful," he smiled.
"Now I just need to enjoy every opportunity."
The 16-year-old demonstrated his willingness to work for his team and close down the ball at the Riverside, yet despite there being no dream debut goal, Jalo was delighted the team came away with a win.
"I was hoping I could score a goal," he admitted.
"But, I am happy that we won the game. It was a great moment. Now, we're in the next round.
"We have to enjoy it and have a look to the next game."
