CHAPMAN THRILLED WITH U18S VICTORY

28 August 2022

Following our U18s’ convincing 2-0 win over Bristol City, midfielder Theo Chapman expressed his relief as he got himself straight on the scoresheet after returning from injury.

The young Reds’ dominant display was topped off with an excellent long range strike from the midfielder to seal all three points for the second time this season.

“It felt very good to get a goal,” began Chapman. “Most importantly, I got 45 minutes under my belt but I was obviously buzzing to get the goal and help my team out.”

The 17-year-old was quick to praise our visitors’ start to the season and admitted that they proved to be a stern test for his side.

City travelled to South Yorkshire sitting top of their division, having won both games – including a resounding victory last weekend.

“They came into the game off a 9-0 win against Hull, so we knew we had to dig in deep and we did that,” surmised Chapman. “It was good to get three points on the board.”

On a personal note, Chapman hopes to better his goal contributions tally from the previous campaign and become an influential figure in his side this season.

He finished the 21/22 campaign strongly as our U18s reached the Professional Development League play-offs and is keen to play a key role once more.

“One of my aims for this season is to try and get a lot of goals and provide a lot of assists,” stated Chapman. “People always look at goalscoring midfielders and I want to be one of them.”
