JASPER MOON POST-BLACKPOOL

27 April 2022

Speaking after our 2-0 defeat against Blackpool on Tuesday evening, Jasper Moon believes that the Reds should have dealt with the two goals better.

Owen Dale raced in behind our backline late in the first half before Oliver Casey prodded home from close range following a set-piece midway through the second to seal all three points for the visitors.

“I thought we started off with quite a lot of energy and, as the game went on, it sort of died down a bit,” said Moon. “We weren’t really getting the press right and they were winning quite a few second balls.

“So, overall, it’s a tough night to take – two goals that could have been prevented. We need to move forward from that one.”

Martin Devaney and Tom Harban took charge of first team affairs, and both have worked closely with our young defender as he has progressed through the age groups.

Moon is confident that, with more hard work on the training ground in the coming days, the Reds can pick up some positive results to end the season.

“I found the training good; they’re just trying to bring back the excitement and energy that we’ve been missing, really, and it seems enjoyable,” continued the 21-year-old. “We’ve just got to keep going and see how it goes now.

“There was a bit more of the old style pressing, that we did last season and gave us a lot of success. We tried to implement that, and I think it did work – at times it worked really well.

“Sometimes, I think we were a bit rusty on it, but we only worked on it for pretty much a day, so with a few more sessions, I think we can get it right and hopefully show that at the weekend.”
