Following our 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, Markus Schopp expressed his disappointment at the result against a very strong Cherries side.
The Reds were comprehensively beaten on the south coast, with Jordan Zemura scoring twice either side of Dominic Solanke’s opportunist finish.
“First of all, I’m very disappointed,” began our Head Coach. “I guess we started really well in the game, but our transition moment and possession was not very good and, when you lose so many balls that easy, then it’s tough against a team like Bournemouth.
“This is an excellent team – they know how to play in possession and how to defend really well. We created chances in the past better, so I don’t worry about that; it’s about getting a picture of the team we were playing against and the way we tried to play.
“Again, I’m really disappointed because, if we don’t make these mistakes in the sequences then we don’t concede the goals and we could have done better in our performances and the result.”
Up next for Barnsley is a trip to Stoke City on Wednesday evening and a chance to get back on track after a frustrating encounter at the Vitality Stadium.
With games now coming thick and fast, there is little time to dwell on our result against Bournemouth and can instead focus on putting things right in the Potteries.
“It’s all about learning and getting better,” continued Schopp. “After losing, you have a chance to play better a couple of days later – it will be a tough one, but it will be a game where we will show up in a way that I think we can succeed.”
