It’s time to vote for your August Goal of the Month and there were some crackers to choose from as the Reds got underway at first team and academy level.
The good news is we’ve narrowed it down to four contenders for you. The bad news is it’s a very tough choice to select a winner.
GOAL A – TOBY SIBBICK v CARDIFF CITY
Our first goal of the new Sky Bet Championship campaign was a worthy equaliser in South Wales as Toby Sibbick latched onto Josh Benson’s magnificent through ball before drilling into the far corner from the edge of the box.
GOAL B – DOMINIK FRIESER v COVENTRY CITY
After being played in by Romal Palmer, Dominik Frieser raced clear of the last man, burst into the area and slotted a composed finish into the bottom corner to give us a richly deserved lead and put us on course for three points.
GOAL C – HAYDEN PICKARD v BRISTOL CITY U18
A goal right out of the top drawer that drew comparisons to Paul Gascoigne in 1996. Even the hair is the same. Hayden Pickard hadn't been born as Gazza turned the Scotland defence inside out, but our 20/21 Academy Player of the Season did his best to replicate that iconic strike as he lifted the ball over the defender’s head before volleying into the roof of the net from 18-yards.
GOAL D – CALLUM STYLES v BIRMINGHAM CITY
We saw him do this a few times last season and Callum Styles is off the mark for the 21/22 campaign. He picked up Clarke Oduor’s pull back and rifled an unerring shot into the top bin to give us an early lead against the Blues.
