Our versatile defender recently returned from injury and he helped preview Saturday's trip to Berkshire as the Reds face Reading in the Sky Bet Championship.
ON THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK
“It’s been about clarity the last couple of weeks. We’ve been working hard every day to make sure we all know what we need to do in each position, each role.
“We knew the identity and what the plan was, but it was a bit different from last year so it was always going to take time. But we’ve a good calibre of player here and we need to start pushing on now.
“Let’s get forward more, get more crosses in, more balls into the box, get shots off. It’s about patterns, working on them and implementing things on matchday.
“The season starts now for us.”
THE MOOD RIGHT NOW
“I get that the fans are hurting, but we are as well. We understand they pay their money, they want us to do well, to win games, but we are fully with them. We have to stick together.
"We've had times like this before, and we didn't let our heads drop, we fought through the tough times together.
“We didn’t start well last season either but we turned things around. So we have to believe we can do that again, get things going in a positive manner. Once we get that first result, I think they'll flow from there.”
THIS WEEKEND
“It’s been frustrating for me, with the injury. It was good to get 90 minutes against Forest recently and I think I’m fully fit now, I feel good, I’m raring to go this Saturday.
“We know what Reading are about, we know where we can hurt them. We’ve regrouped over the last couple of weeks, we’ve worked hard on the training ground and things are clicking now.
“We need to do the basics, and get back to what we were doing last year. It starts this Saturday, I fully believe that.”
