The Reds are not back at Oakwell until Wednesday 24 November when Swansea City travel to South Yorkshire.
Our other remaining fixtures this month are both on the road, with long journeys to Fulham and Peterborough United and, while we’d love for you all to be there, we know that it’s not possible.
However, there are plenty of our local clubs in action over the international break and beyond who desperately need bodies through the turnstiles to generate some much-needed income – and we’re sure they’d appreciate your support when Barnsley aren’t in action!
So, the matchday programme, Grove Street has compiled a list of selected fixtures, should you fancy taking in some non-league football action in the coming weeks.
You’re spoilt for choice on Saturday (13 November), with five of our local sides playing at home, while Frickley Athletic make the short trip to Stocksbridge Park Steels – an old stopping ground of Jamie Vardy.
That weekend in the NCEL Premier Division, Athersley Rec host Staveley Miners Welfare, Penistone Church entertain Garforth Town and Hemsworth Miners Welfare are in action against Handsworth.
Dropping down a league, Worsbrough welcome Rainworth Miners Welfare to the Pinto Property Stadium.
There’s only one of our featured local sides in action in the area on Saturday 20 November as Frickley go up against high-flying Cleethorpes Town at Westfield Lane.
FC Halifax Town will look to strengthen their National League promotion credentials when play host to fallen giants Wrexham on Tuesday 23 November. For anyone interested in a bit of Hollywood stardom, there could be an opportunity to spot Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at the Shay that evening.
At the end of the month, there are some tough fixtures for a lot of our local teams, with Athersley, Penistone, Hemsworth and Worsbrough all entertaining sides near the top of their respective tables.
Also that weekend (27 November), Frickley take on the world’s first football club, Sheffield FC – one for our history buffs, if you’re interested in a bit of nostalgia.
Elsewhere, as a side note, Halifax make the long journey to Torquay United where they will line-up against former Reds academy defender, Ali Omar, on the English Riviera.
