This Saturday, Barnsley Hospice are taking over at Oakwell to raise funds and awareness for all of the incredible work that they continue to do for people we care about.
The Hospice provides specialist palliative care and support to people with active, progressive and life-limiting illnesses which cannot be cured. These conditions include cancer, heart and lung diseases and neurological diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinson’s.
Their care stives to improve the quality of life for patients and their families by providing pain and symptom relief; practical, emotional, spiritual and social support; counselling and bereavement support services.
Barnsley Hospice is not just a building – it is a way of caring for people. With their support, patients are able to benefit from the best possible care throughout their illness and at the end of their life.
Services are provided by a specialist team of healthcare professionals and support staff, and the charity is run by a dedicated board of trustees, management team, staff and volunteers committed to supporting the hospice and the services it provides for the Barnsley community.
As part of the takeover day, a special guest will be brought to Oakwell from the Hospice, courtesy of Burrows, where they will enjoy exceptional hospitality from the comfort of our Premier Lounge.
The Reds will also be sporting orange warm-up t-shirts emblazoned with the Barnsley Hospice logo and make sure to keep an eye out for bucket collectors around the stadium as they aim to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity.
