CAULEY WOODROW POST-SWANSEA CITY

24 May 2021

Following the conclusion of our incredible season at Swansea City on Saturday evening, Cauley Woodrow reflected on a remarkable 10 months since our great escape at Brentford.

To see just how far this team has come in such a short space of time speaks volumes about the character, quality and togetherness within our dressing room and every single player can hold their head high after what they have achieved this campaign.

“Obviously, we’re really disappointed but from where we were last season to playing in a semi-final play-off game, it’s an unbelievable turnaround and we should be really proud of ourselves,” began Woodrow.

“We’re super disappointed that we didn’t manage to get to Wembley and take the next step but, if you sit back and look at what we’ve achieved this season, it’s pretty amazing.

“We’ve proved that we can be one of the best teams in this league – you don’t come this far without being that and it’s a credit to the players, staff and everyone that’s had an input this season. We’ve done unbelievably well.”

It’s now time for a well-deserved break after what has been one of the most gruelling schedules in recent memory due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Looking ahead to next season, Woodrow feels there’s no reason why Barnsley can’t build on their success this term and is targeting another top six finish.

“We can take a lot of confidence into next season,” continued the forward. “We’re obviously disappointed now but we need to get over it, we need to move on, rest and be back in for pre-season with another big season ahead of us.

“We’ll keep fighting and we know we can get to the play-offs, so I think that’s got to be our aim next season and we’ll see where we end up.”
