An open letter from Chief Executive Officer, Dane Murphy.
Dear Reds,
Success is a gift to be shared by the working people, by community... by family. Each one of you should celebrate the perseverance of your town, your Club. It is evident that the strength of both is drawn from one another.
So, hold your heads high, pull your shoulders back, wear a smile that can’t be mistaken. Revel in the pride of this achievement for as long as you like. No one can ever take this season away.
Soon, empty seats will be filled. Laughs and cheers will echo around the cathedral of Oakwell. What our supporters deserve will once again be at hand. May 17th was the preamble for the joy to come in the 21/22 campaign.
A promise was made at the culmination of last season to continue to fight no matter what may lie ahead. And although that is a promise whose debt can never be fully paid, your Club did all it could to back up its pledge.
Your team, this group of exceptional young men lead by a transformational commander in Valérien, embodied the very best of what Barnsley represents. Grit, determination, resiliency, and undervalued talent. A soul that can’t be deterred. The very fabric of this town was interwoven within their performance.
We all, every day, count ourselves lucky to be a part of the Barnsley Football Club story.
Courageous pursuit from the fearless turns dreams into reality. Then, now, and always - YOU REDS!
Yours Faithfully,
Dane Murphy
