JASPER MOON POST-NORWICH

9 May 2021

Fresh from making his full debut in the 2-2 draw with Norwich City on Saturday afternoon, Jasper Moon says he is pleased with how he played in the absence of Alex Mowatt.

The versatile youngster featured for 67 minutes and hardly put a foot wrong, while also coming close to scoring in the first half with the game level at 0-0.

“I’m really happy!” he exclaimed, speaking exclusively to iFollow Barnsley. “I’ve had a few appearances now – this is my third one but my first start so, obviously it’s a good moment for myself and it shows that the gaffer trusts me to put me in and I don’t think I’ve done myself any harm.

“I thought I performed quite well. They got out a few times, which I probably could have done better on, but I thought in possession I was alright. Out of possession, I could have done a little bit better but, overall, I thought I did alright.”

After being told on Friday that he would be starting, Moon had little time to prepare himself for the challenge of going up against some of the finest players in the division.

Utilised in central midfield, the 20-year-old was tasked with marshalling the likes of Todd Cantwell and Emi Buendía, but he wasn’t fazed by the opposition and took it all in his stride with a mature display.

“Obviously, they’re a high calibre team to be playing against,” continued Moon. “To be coming into that is a little bit daunting but I think, overall, they’re just 11 footballers on a pitch and we’re just 11 so that’s the mentality that I went in with.”
