Callum Styles has been named as the EFL Young Player of the Month for February.
Sensational all season, our Bury Baggio has been acknowledged for his stunning performances in a month where Barnsley won all five Sky Bet Championship games.
The midfielder was instrumental in February and also won our in-house Goal of the Month competition, as voted for by you, the fans.
That strike against Stoke City is just one of a number of standout moments for Callum, who has demonstrated his ability to regain possession in a left wing-back position that he has made his own since the tail end of the previous campaign.
His five appearances in February saw the 20-year-old make 10 successful tackles, win nine aerial duels and intercept the ball on seven occasions to help launch the Reds’ counter-attacks.
“To win an award like this is an amazing achievement for both me and my family,” beamed Callum. “I’m happy that my performances have been able to contribute to the team doing so well in the league.
“The fact that we won every game in February just goes to show how well the entire squad is playing, so I’d like to thank my teammates as well for helping me reach the top of my game.
“It’s a good feeling to be part of a winning team and the hard work being put in by everyone is now getting its reward and we hope to keep the winning run going.”
Everyone at Oakwell would like to congratulate Callum on this magnificent achievement.
