Ahead of Wednesday's trip to Adams Park, we got the thoughts of Callum Brittain as he helped preview the Chairboys clash.
Our rampaging right wing-back believes Saturday’s victory at Bournemouth has added even further belief into this group of players, but it wasn’t without a reminder from their Head Coach.
Valérien Ismaël’s half-time pep talk inspired a second-half turnaround at Vitality Stadium and as Brittain explained, it got the desired result.
“The first half wasn’t good enough at all.” Admitted Callum.
“The gaffer made that clear at the break and we came out in the second half and put in one of our best performances of the season.
“It was a great result for us, fully deserved and it gives us even more confidence for the remainder of the season, starting with tomorrow night at Wycombe.”
Much has been made of Ismaël’s interval intervention on the South Coast.
But for Brittain, he felt it was a positive move and just shows how much faith the Frenchman has in his squad of players, regardless of the opposition.
He told us: “When someone believes in you as much as the gaffer does, it’s really motivating.
“He wasn’t being nasty, he was making it known just how much he trusted in us, how much he believed in us, that we could get the victory.
“Like he said, we hadn’t travelled five hours, one of our longest trips to give it up that easily.”
Wednesday evening sees the Reds head back down south to take on a team at the foot of the Sky Bet Championship table.
But Callum knows that in this division, anyone can beat anyone. And that at Adams Park, the Reds will need to be in good shape, physically and mentally to tackle the Chairboys.
“Wycombe will be just as big a test as it was at Bournemouth, but in a different way of course.
“Most of our games have shown we can adapt, that we can play in a variety of ways so we feel confident about going there and getting another result.
“The staff have been great with us, we are doing all the right things regarding recovery and whilst the schedule is hectic, I think all of us are excited about playing the games and what we can achieve.
“The focus is on Wycombe, we are looking forward to it.”
