Barnsley Football Club is delighted to announce that Jasper Moon has signed a new two-year deal.
The versatile youngster made his senior debut at Rotherham United back in December and went onto feature a further two times – making his full debut on the final day of the regulation season at home to Norwich City.
He was voted as Man of the Match for that performance by supporters on Twitter, where he excelled in a central midfield role.
Having progressed through the ranks at Oakwell since arriving in July 2017, Moon caught the eye with a series of impressive performances both at U18 and U23 level prior to his inclusion in the first team set-up.
The 20-year-old made 15 appearances for Martin Devaney’s side this term, scoring once – our January Goal of the Month – in a 4-4 draw with Coventry City.
Upon penning his new deal that will keep him at the club until at least 2023, Moon said: “It’s been in the process for quite a while now so, to finally get it done I’m buzzing really.
“I knew if I used the under 23s as a good showcase, I’d get my chance this year. I put in a few decent performances and the gaffer watched me and was impressed, so it gave me a good steppingstone to get into the first team. I played three games and thought I did well in all of them.
“To come on against Preston and start against Norwich, it shows that he’s confident in me and that boosts my confidence as well around the team.
“I want to kick on, start a few more games, make appearances and get as much game time as possible.”
Everyone at Oakwell would like to congratulate Jasper on his new deal.
